Purple
Purple is made when Red mixes with Blue,

Which makes it quite cooling, yet bold and warm too!

And though it’s more rare than the colors around it,

Rainbow loved Purple wherever she found it.

She saw water lilies emerge from a pound,

With soft lilac petals that yearned for beyond.

And strange-looking flowers that grew from bananas,

Used in Thai dishes cooked under cabanas.

A whole stack of Indian amethyst bangles

Was worn amongst women who jingled and jangled.

While violet umbrellas stood three stories high,

Protecting from things that might fall from the sky.

That huge ogoh-ogoh?  A great fuchsia beast!

He scared away ghosts at a Balinese feast.

And the painting of clouds?  That’s called a batik.

This one’s colored iris.  Each painting’s unique.

[The story doesn’t end there... read the book to learn
what happens when Rainbow begins to mix colors!]
